What are the different registration types that the system offers?
Registration Types define how your participants or attendees will interact with the registration form.
Individual registrations are the most common scenario, and are appropriate when people register/attend/participate as an individual person. Note: Individuals can still be part of teams, families and groups. The only scenario when you would turn off Individual registrations is when all participant must be part of a team (e.g. Relay team event).
Team registrations are typically used for sport based events where a defined sized group will participate in the event together. Team members can be assigned roles within the team. An example of this is a Triathlon team – typically a fixed size team of 3 participants with 3 roles – Swim, Ride and Run.
Note: If you are creating ‘flexible’ sized teams where participants are linked together under a company or organisation banner (eg; Fun Run with teams of undefined size, conference where more than 1 person from certain companies are attending) – Groups are a better fit and will offer greater flexibility for your participants and group coordinators.
Families are similar to Teams. The only real reason for Family registrations is an ability to create a discounted pricing scenario.
Note: Families CAN be part of Groups.
Groups are a collection of registrations which are participating together under the one organised group. As part of the event set-up, you can specify a word for 'Group', so users may see the word 'Company' or 'Team' when using Group functionality. Groups can contain Individuals, Teams and Families and the Group Administrator can manage the registrations within the group, invite members to join the group, pay for registrations within the group, remove unwanted registrations from the group and more!
Note: Group coordinators do not have to be participants in the event.
